About two weeks ago I got tired of seeing 250+ unread items in Google Reader every timed I logged, so now every time I consume a feed I ask myself: Am I really benefiting by reading this? If no, I unsubscribe.
After two weeks of doing this I still over 200 feeds. I want to get down to around 30 feeds so that I can get back to more important things! Wish me luck!
Update I May Have Found a Solution
It came to me that I needed to tag and filter what I read daily. I am under 30 feeds now that I will read daily, the other 50 I will peruse when I have time to kill. Yeah, I know, I should have been doing this all along but it usually has to hurt before I take action on these kinds of things - 300+ feeds did hurt.
